    ## Chapter 129: Dividing the Spoils and the Return of Bane

    “How could it be?”

Lex Luthor squeezed out a fake smile.

What else could he say at this point?

He turned around, almost able to feel the gears in his head spinning relentlessly.

Did Batman see through his plan?

If he did, how much did he know?

Luthor instantly cut off his own rambling thoughts. Thinking without intelligence was pointless, it wasn’t something a smart person would do.

An energy cannon behind him rose. As the creator of the Doomsday creature, he should be well aware that all energy attacks were essentially feeding the monster, but he still did it.

The dark green energy wave surged out and was absorbed by Doomsday. Wonder Woman turned her head with annoyance: “What are you doing?”

She looked at Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent who were still watching the show from the side: “And you two—”

But Wonder Woman didn’t have the chance to finish a single sentence.

Doomsday roared and punched down. Due to absorbing too much energy, he was almost like a constantly leaking sprinkler, looking extremely unstable as he walked.

His fist struck Wonder Woman’s shield, causing a massive explosion that sent the Amazonian warrior flying backwards. Seizing this opportunity, Doomsday writhed, searching for his severed arm. But by the time he found it, Wonder Woman, who had returned to the battlefield like a hurricane, had already kicked the dry, chicken claw-like arm away.

This act ignited Doomsday’s even greater rage.

He roared loudly, his immense energy almost destroying his throat and speech abilities. All sorts of light waves poured out from every possible hole on his head, seemingly for free. Wonder Woman saw one shooting towards Batman and Superman, but the two of them even preferred to jump away rather than take a hit.

Luthor continued to feed Doomsday from afar, bombarding him with one dark green energy wave after another at different wavelengths. This gradually dyed the monster’s purple muscles black, and also darkened Wonder Woman’s expression—

This green energy caused Doomsday to spray even more violently. If it was just a faucet before, it was now a burst pipe, directly unleashing a torrent. In this luxurious battle of limitless energy expenditure, even Wonder Woman felt gradually powerless.

    “You—”

Diana felt like she had no chance to utter a complete sentence. The massive energy exploded in front of her shield, blurring her voice in the chaotic shock waves and energy.

As Doomsday roared hysterically while pounding his own head, she once again flew through the air like a broken kite, bouncing off the ground like a ball and rolling several times before landing headfirst in the dirt, taking a mouthful of mud.

But the indomitable warrior jumped up again, letting out a deafening Amazonian battle cry, wielding her sword: “In the name of Hera—you shall fall! Drink!”

Luthor continued to fire energy while turning his head to look at Batman, who was hiding behind Superman. The latter had an expression of “expecting everything,” which made Luthor open his mouth slightly.

He deliberately walked to Batman’s side and then fired a shot at Doomsday.

    Batman’s face remained completely unchanged.

The red and blue Boy Scout, with a stupid expression, tried to imitate Batman’s standing posture as he hovered there.

Luthor continued to walk back and forth in front of Batman, fiddling with the muzzle of his cannon. Seeing that Batman didn’t open his mouth to ask, he finally couldn’t help but introduce himself.

    “Doomsday is my creation.”

    “Yeah, I know.”

“And I, Lex Luthor, will never release anything I can’t control.”

    “Okay, good.”

    “…”

    Luthor continued to explain:

“I call it Energy Toxin. This alien energy will interfere with Doomsday’s wavelength, making him uncontrollably spew out the energy he absorbs, like he’s taken a laxative.”

“So the more he sprays, the more he explodes, the faster he weakens later. This is one of the methods I specifically developed to restrict Doomsday. Lex Luthor always has a backup plan!”

    Batman didn’t respond.

Luthor gritted his teeth. Ignoring Batman, he turned and gave Doomsday several shots in a row.

The two stood there in silence, neither looking at the other.

Superman looked left at Luthor, then right at Batman, finding it quite amusing.

He landed between the two oddly dressed men, proudly putting his hands on his hips, joining them in watching Wonder Woman get beaten.

    Then he heard Batman say:

“Superman, why are you just standing there, watching? Why don’t you go help Wonder Woman?”

    Superman: !

    Luthor chimed in:

“It doesn’t surprise me that Superman is standing idly by. Aliens will never fight for Earth.”

Then the two of them turned their heads together, looking at the bewildered Superman:

“So what are you waiting for now?”

    Clark walked away awkwardly.

He flew to the top of Doomsday, then dove down, stomping his head into the dirt.

He was just watching Batman stand there and do nothing, so he followed suit. He absolutely wasn’t intentionally shirking his work!

He grabbed Doomsday’s head, threw his already somewhat withered body into the air, then flew up and repeatedly punched the monster, sending him flying higher and higher.

“Oh, come on, how am I supposed to continue using Energy Toxin now?”

Luthor stopped firing energy waves, complaining.

“The stuff you’re firing just causes trouble!”

Wonder Woman, covered in dirt and dust, walked over from the side. She held her sword upside down, her hair loose.

She put the sword back into her belt, then slapped her forehead hard, making a loud bang.

The shock wave from the impact between her palm and forehead shook away all the sand and dirt from her face and shoulders, even cleaning her hair.

    Boom!

Doomsday landed like a meteorite behind the three of them, creating a large crater in the ground.

By now, he no longer had the terrifying appearance of a fleshy mountain king, but instead looked like a gaunt, near-death consumptive, groaning painfully: “Hungry!”

Without the massive energy discharge, the throat he had dissolved and burnt was actually growing back within seconds, no longer hindering his ability to speak.

    Superman descended.

    “You got anything to eat?”

Hearing the question, Clark put down his fists, hesitated for a moment, then the gentle Kansas farm boy’s eyes glowed red, charging Doomsday with a little electricity.

“Oh, it’s shooting over, so comfortable, so good, so warm—ah—”

Superman breathed a blast of cold air onto Doomsday, freezing him into a large ice block.

With Doomsday dealt with, the atmosphere on the scene became tense once again.

Luthor retreated to the side, Superman and Wonder Woman subtly confronting each other.

The blade of Ares, which had been put away, slid back into Diana’s palm.

It felt like an invisible wind was swirling through the battlefield, a suffocating sense of destruction spreading, suddenly making everyone feel a bit choked.

The demigoddess from Greek mythology, standing on the rotten foundation of ancient ages; while the Kryptonian orphan soared, scattering swirling flames.

The surging roar of crimson, silently echoing in calm eyes; the raised shield and sword, reflecting the war-filled brilliance in the Amazonian warrior’s eyes.

The world, with its most monstrous expression, pressed against the tip of the knife, piercing through the thinnest surface of reality. That terrifying feeling of trepidation, like a snake constricting the waist, tying the flesh into a ball, in such an atmosphere—

Bruce Wayne walked to Doomsday’s side and pulled out a Kryptonite knife from his Utility Belt.

    “Hiss…”

Clark quickly dodged the faint green glow emanating from the knife.

Bruce tried to cut Doomsday’s body, but the green knife soon got stuck between the bone spikes.

He tried to use his skills, like splitting a bull like a butcher, directly disassembling…

    Hilarious, it couldn’t be done.

Bruce gave up. He directly pulled out a large handful of Kryptonite dust from his belt, sprinkled it on Doomsday, then cut off one of his arms like cutting a cream cake.

The other three looked at him with wide eyes.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

Bruce straightened up, Batman’s distinctive voice echoed through the area: “As you can see, the spoils of war are not indivisible.”

He swung the knife, making a cut on Doomsday’s neck—unexpectedly, it got stuck again.

Bruce continued to pull out Kryptonite dust, intending to—

“Stop, stop, stop. I have a Kryptonite cutting device.”

    Lex Luthor hurriedly stopped him.

He pressed his earpiece: “My drone will deliver us a Kryptonite cutting machine in a few minutes.”

    Superman looked at him sideways.

What kind of person would use a cutting machine? Even if they wanted to deal with him, shouldn’t they prioritize making Kryptonite knives or spears?

He looked at Doomsday’s corpse on the ground, which had just had its arm cut off by a small knife, and inexplicably felt a strange sense of shared misfortune.

The Amazonian woman put away her sword. The atmosphere finally became normal.

Diana looked at Bruce Wayne, wanting to ask how he knew about her mother and about Paradise Island, but even with the Amazonian princess’s thick nerves, she knew that now might not be a good time to have this conversation.

And she didn’t think he would tell her.

“Diana Prince. This monster is artificial. Kryptonian-made, you can consider it artificial—by the way, do you know what an alien is?”

Diana realized that he didn’t seem to know her very well.

“I’m not some out-of-touch old fossil.”

She adjusted her loose, silky black hair: “Although I haven’t been out in the world outside of Paradise Island for long, I’ve pretty much learned everything a normal outsider should know.”

She said, “I even got a job, antique appraisal.”

    She paused, then added:

“Although the degree certificate is fake. Steve made it for me.”

Bruce Wayne said, “It’s good that you know what an alien is. Doomsday, this is a humanoid weapon built solely for killing. It has no consciousness, no emotions. This guy might also have some genetic modifications from Brainiac’s project.”

Luthor’s cutting machine arrived. At this moment, the bald head was working together with his least favorite red-and-blue Boy Scout, cutting Doomsday’s corpse into several pieces of the same size.

The whole scene was like a picnic.

Bruce Wayne continued to talk to Diana: “Anyway, I hope you understand the danger of this thing. Now the problem is, I don’t know if you’ve seen those crazy scientists on TV who create monsters they can’t control.”

Diana thought about it for a moment.

“This is your spoils of war, Diana. By Hera, you participated in the battle, you deserve the right to control the spoils. Power needs to be regulated, that’s what you said, right?”

    Diana wrinkled her nose:

“Uh, why do you keep saying ‘By Hera’ all the time? I told you, I’m not an ancient person. You don’t need to talk to me like you’re trying to appease an ancient person… and saying ‘By Hera’ is also weird. You’re clearly a man. If you have to say something, you should say ‘By Zeus’!”

Bruce Wayne froze for a moment, then forcibly skipped this topic.

“I think when you take this monster to Steve, you also have the obligation to ensure that those government people don’t use it to create byproducts that would threaten the world.”

Seeing that Diana wanted to say something, Bruce Wayne waved his hand to interrupt her.

“I know you trust Steve, and you’re willing to believe that he won’t do anything with this monster. But you should know that Steve isn’t an omnipotent god. He can’t control every field.”

The roar of an armed helicopter came from the horizon. Colonel Steve Trevor quickly climbed down the ladder, landing on the ground before he could stop.

Bruce Wayne and Diana both glanced at Steve who was running over.

“Let’s leave it at that. I believe you have the ability to prevent potential dangers.”

Bruce Wayne didn’t pay attention to Steve who was running over to talk to Diana. He walked over to Lex Luthor and unceremoniously took the fruits of his labor.

Luthor was about to say something, but Bruce Wayne interrupted him:

“Doomsday is still alive. He’s clearly a conscious human being. Lex, you have to guarantee his human rights.”

He said this while carrying Doomsday’s upper body and two arms away.

    “You took too much…”

Bruce Wayne’s feet curled up black mist, carrying his loot and flying away. The oddly dressed man, carrying the monstrous creature, cloaked in black mist, looked like a villain straight out of a comic book.

Superman shrugged and followed in flight.

Luthor was speechless. He turned to look at the remaining half of the body.

Then he heard someone banging twice behind his armor.

He turned his head and saw Steve Trevor standing behind him with his arms crossed.

“Everything here is the property of the * government!”

“Thank God, I’m so glad to hear that.” Luthor said.

“You can’t take anything here, you have to turn everything over to the government!”

Colonel Trevor skillfully threatened: “Don’t try anything funny, Lex. We don’t know the exact identities of Superman and Batman, but you’re completely under your real name.”

He said, “Taking government property privately is illegal! Now, your drone has been requisitioned. If you want to use them, you have to send the government property to the military base!”

“And your research on Doomsday must be handed over!”

The other party was getting more and more outrageous. Luthor couldn’t help but shout: “Don’t even think about it, Trevor!”

“You even know my name. Did you plant spies here?”

“You’re breaking the law, you know that?”

    “Shut up!”

“Teacher Shiva, let’s rest at this safehouse first.”

In a small house in the Metropolis slums, Jason pulled open the rug, revealing a basement entrance. There was a hidden world underneath.

“No one can find us here.”

Jason had just finished putting up the flag when he heard someone knocking at the door.

    Knock knock knock…

Jason immediately made a tactical gesture. He covered the safehouse entrance with the rug again.

Shiva stood up, crouching like a female leopard.

    “Who’s outside?”

    He walked to the door.

    “What’s going on?”

But in the next second, there was a loud boom. The fragile wooden door was smashed through by a giant hand. Jason took a step back, and a giant over two meters tall crashed through the door, directly entering the room.

Jason recognized the man. He opened his mouth.

    “It’s you!”

“I am Bane.” The giant’s voice echoed through the room like it was in a jar.

    “I’m here for revenge.”
