Lu Lingyun looked at his expression and knew he had been arguing again. As it turned out, love was love, and life was life. Love alone couldn’t shield you from the mundane details of life—arguments would still happen. “Young Master,” Lu Lingyun pretended not to notice, and looked cheerfully at Cheng Yunshuo’s unhappy face. “What is it?” “Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon. I’ve drafted a gift list based on last year’s, take a look and see if you want to add anything.” Cheng Yunshuo glanced at it casually, “Just these.” “Okay,” Lu Lingyun put the list away. Besides the usual relatives and friends that the Houfu interacted with, she had added the Lu and Wang families this year. Between the aristocratic families, even if they didn’t visit during holidays, they still exchanged gifts. “Also, Father’s health isn’t great, and he can’t move around much. I was thinking we could all go to the manor to reunite with our parents for Mid-Autumn Festival. What do you think?” Cheng Yunshuo had no objections, “Do whatever you think is best.” “Then I’ll make arrangements.” Lu Lingyun didn’t say anything more and instructed the servants to do their work. After she finished her tasks, she saw Cheng Yunshuo still sitting there, sipping his tea, not in a hurry to leave like he usually did. “Young Master, do you have something else to attend to?” Lu Lingyun asked. Cheng Yunshuo didn’t really have anything to do. He just didn’t want to go back. After just arguing with Xing Dai Rong, he felt resistant to going back to the Leisure Pavilion. Being with Lu Lingyun, who was always concise and elegant and never argued with him, made him feel a sense of peace. He unconsciously felt calmer, just sitting there and sipping his tea. “Nothing much,” Cheng Yunshuo looked at Lu Lingyun, making small talk to fill the silence, “You seem to be pretty busy since you’ve been managing the household affairs.” Lu Lingyun could see through his thoughts, but didn’t bother pointing it out. She sat beside him and sipped her tea, “It’s alright, there aren’t many troublesome things in the Houfu. Father and Mother are both recuperating at the manor. There are fewer people in the Houfu, and with fewer people, there’s less to deal with.” “Do you have many relatives on your side?” Cheng Yunshuo asked, finding an excuse for a conversation. “Yes,” Lu Lingyun nodded, “I have three brothers and six sisters. There are also many uncles and aunts, every holiday, our house is so lively that there’s no room for quiet.” “Are they the ones you saw when you went back home last time?” “Yes.” “There really are a lot of them.” Cheng Yunshuo didn’t really pay attention to who they were, he only remembered the room was crowded with women. “Don’t you find them annoying?” Lu Lingyun raised her teacup, and for once, smiled at him, “Young Master, would you like to hear the truth or a lie?” This was the first time Cheng Yunshuo had seen her like this, he was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled back. He chatted with Lu Lingyun in a leisurely way, and when he finally left, he felt lighter. Chatting with Lu Lingyun was completely different from talking to Qiu Ling or Xing Dai Rong. When he talked to Qiu Ling, she would always flatter him, trying to please him, eager for every word to be to his liking. Xing Dai Rong, needless to say, was sweet when she was sweet, but bitter when she was bitter, most of the time he had to make concessions. Lu Lingyun, on the other hand, didn’t require any deliberate accommodation, nor was she overly obsequious. She was calm and composed, like an old friend, which made him feel strangely comfortable. He stayed there until almost dinner time, when Chun He came in and reminded him, “Young Master, are you having dinner here tonight?” Cheng Yunshuo raised his teacup, “No, I’m not.” He still had to go back. He looked at Lu Lingyun, hesitated for a moment and said, “Little Jun, can you give me some money in advance? Consider it a pre-payment.” After all, he was still thinking about the fact that Xing Dai Rong didn’t have any new clothes. He had to find some money to buy her some new clothes. Lu Lingyun looked at him, she could guess his intentions, “How much do you need?” “Give me ten taels.” Lu Lingyun didn’t ask him what he needed the money for, she simply gave Shuang Hong a signal. Shuang Hong immediately handed him a purse containing ten taels of silver. “If it’s not enough, let me know.”
