Chapter 40: Mystical Spring Space

“What’s going on here?” Yang Zhengshan asked directly, feeling that as the head of the family, he should be aware of everything happening at home.

“Dad!” Yang Mingcheng and Wang Shi were clearly not expecting Yang Zhengshan to return at this moment. Both of them froze, Yang Mingcheng looking uneasy, and Wang Shi panicking.

“What’s going on, Dad?” Yang Mingcheng asked, his head hung low.

Yang Zhengshan’s eyes narrowed. His eldest son had always been truthful, never lying to him, but today he was doing so. There must be something going on!

Yang Zhengshan turned to Wang Shi, who felt his gaze and trembled. Then, Wang Shi knelt down, saying, “It’s my fault, Dad! I should not have interfered with my family’s matters!”

Yang Zhengshan was taken aback. What was going on? Why was Wang Shi kneeling?

The others in the household gathered around, looking puzzled. Li Shi knew what had happened, as Wang Shi had been involved in her family’s division of property.

“You intervened in your family’s matters?” Yang Zhengshan asked, not understanding the details.

“I helped my parents divide the property,” Wang Shi said, her voice barely audible.

Yang Zhengshan was perplexed. “Why did you do that?”

“My sisters-in-law always fight, and my parents are affected,” Wang Shi said, her voice growing even softer.

In traditional society, parents’ authority should not be challenged, and it was considered unfilial to divide the family property while the parents were still alive. Yang Zhengshan realized that Wang Shi’s actions would be criticized.

However, Yang Zhengshan’s modern values led him to think that if the family members didn’t get along, it was better to divide the property and live separately.

He was impressed by Wang Shi’s courage. “Get up, it’s not a big deal. You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself.”

Yang Mingcheng looked at him in surprise. “Not a big deal?”

Yang Zhengshan shrugged. “What’s the point of keeping someone who doesn’t listen?”

Yang Mingcheng glanced at Wang Shi, and Yang Zhengshan knew that the villagers would gossip about this. But he didn’t care.

“If you want to make your wife happy, go and comfort her. Don’t make me see you bullying her, or I’ll teach you a lesson!”

Yang Zhengshan didn’t bother explaining to Yang Mingcheng, as he knew it would be pointless. Yang Mingcheng was a local, brought up with traditional values, and it would be hard to change his mindset.

Yang Mingcheng quickly helped Wang Shi up and dragged her back to their room. Yang Zhengshan didn’t care what they did in private.

“Ah, Li Shi, where’s the second son?” Yang Zhengshan asked.

“He went to the back mountain with Lin Zhonghou early this morning!” Li Shi replied.

Yang Zhengshan nodded. Although the training sessions in the village had stopped, the training ground in the back mountain was still there, and people who wanted to practice martial arts would go there.

“Tell him to come and see me when he gets back,” Yang Zhengshan instructed, then returned to his room.

Sitting on the couch, Yang Zhengshan’s mind wandered, and the scenery of the Mystical Spring appeared before his eyes. He had been in this world for half a year, and the Mystical Spring had been with him for the same amount of time.

Compared to the original Mystical Spring, the current one had expanded to a stone pool about a zhang wide, but the water in the pool was scarce, only about a bucketful. However, there were ripples on the surface, indicating that the Mystical Spring’s water output was now visible to the naked eye.

According to Yang Zhengshan’s estimates, the Mystical Spring’s daily output should be around six to seven bowls of water. He wouldn’t hoard it, and the family had been using diluted Mystical Spring water for cooking and drinking.

As the water output increased, Yang Zhengshan noticed some rules about the expansion of the Mystical Spring space. The space was expanding slowly over time, regardless of his physical condition or cultivation level.

He also discovered other changes. Firstly, after the stone pool expanded to a zhang wide, it revealed black soil, unlike the original stone blocks. Although it was only as wide as a finger, it suggested that if the Mystical Spring continued to expand, a large area of land might appear.

Secondly, Yang Zhengshan found that he could enter the Mystical Spring space, and not only that, but he could also place external objects inside the space or retrieve them from it. He just needed to focus his mind, and the objects would appear or disappear.

This discovery thrilled Yang Zhengshan. It was a storage space, or perhaps even a cultivation space? Maybe it was a divine palace or a blessed land?

Yang Zhengshan had many guesses, but he couldn’t verify them yet. He needed to wait until the Mystical Spring space expanded further. Perhaps there were other treasures hidden within. Yang Zhengshan was eagerly anticipating this.
