In her heart, Fan Jing didn’t know what kind of man would be worthy of a woman like that, but for Zhong Qing, Fan Jing was someone she’d rather not have much to do with. She hoped they wouldn’t have to meet again in the future.

Men who had a strong sense of superiority, garnered from their experiences, and who had consumed dog meat sauce and wine for a long time, would exude a unique smell that Zhong Qing particularly disliked.

“That guy’s name is Liu Chang’an, and this is his phone number,” Zhong Qing handed Liu Chang’an’s phone number to the girl holding a Rottweiler.

Her name was Zhu Juntang.

Zhu Juntang took the phone number and gazed at the towering Bao Long Center building. “He seems like a vagrant,” Zhong Qing said, summarizing the information she had gathered from Fan Jing earlier.

“Maybe he’s a high school student… or a university student,” Zhu Juntang thought Zhong Qing’s gaze was strange and explained, although in her eyes, whether he was a vagrant or a student, his actions were already enough to make people ignore his identity.

“There’s no difference,” Zhong Qing said indifferently, as if it didn’t matter who the person was; with Zhu Juntang’s identity, she shouldn’t be concerned about an ordinary young man.

“How tall is this building?” Zhu Juntang asked, half-closing her eyes, making her eyes seem narrow and charming.

“452 meters,” Zhong Qing was familiar with the data of this high-rise building, which ranked around 15th in the country.

“If one were to jump from this height, could they still survive?” Zhu Juntang’s beautiful nose wrinkled, and then relaxed, revealing an unbelievable expression on her face. She patted her cheek, “I doubt it.”

“I think so too,” Zhu Juntang nodded, glancing at the Rottweiler sticking out its tongue. “To be cautious, why don’t you go buy a pig and throw it from the top to see?”

Zhu Juntang’s dog didn’t seem to understand the scenario its owner had just imagined.

“Third Miss, please don’t do strange things again,” Zhong Qing, although Zhu Juntang’s assistant, couldn’t keep up with her antics. “I heard you had someone search for a corpse nearby last night and then went for a stroll around the building,” Zhong Qing said.

Zhu Juntang let out an un-ladylike yawn, handed the leash to Zhong Qing, and walked towards the Bao Long Center.

In the elevator going straight to the top, Zhu Juntang was silent, staring at Liu Chang’an’s name and phone number.

“That year, Liu Bang entered Xianyang, and I was rescued. Later, Xiang Yu came and couldn’t find me, so he burned Xianyang.”

“From Qin Shi Huang seeking immortality to being imprisoned, and then being rescued by Liu Bang, that’s being imprisoned for over a decade!”

“It’s true. Later, Liu Bang also imprisoned me again.”

“…”

Someone had been talking nonsense with her on the rooftop last night and then jumped to their death… didn’t seem to leave any body behind. It was as if Zhu Juntang had just seen a young man working at a construction site through her telescope.

She still vividly remembered that person jumping to their death, and Zhu Juntang had screamed, trying to grab them, but only saw their figure rapidly falling, disappearing into the darkness in an instant.

“I… I…” Zhu Juntang’s teeth were chattering, and her legs had turned weak. This building was one of the tallest in Junsha City, and jumping from here would be certain death – not to mention the gruesome aftermath.

Her pupils were dilating, and her four limbs felt icy cold. She had thought about jumping from here to commit suicide before, but now that she had witnessed it, she realized how terrifying it was. Zhu Juntang’s heart was racing, and her four limbs felt weak, as if they had given up.

After a while, Zhu Juntang finally crawled up, returned to her room, and took the elevator back down to the lobby.

It was midnight, and the security guards in the lobby were still patrolling. When they saw Zhu Juntang, they quickly saluted and greeted her.

Zhu Juntang rushed out, searching around in all directions, while simultaneously fearing and forcing herself to prepare for the worst.

If someone jumped from this height, it would certainly be a terrible sight. Maybe it was better not to jump, Zhu Juntang thought, her heart filled with doubts. Why would he jump?

She recalled the last look he gave her – a calm gaze, as if he had given up on everything and had no attachment to this world.

Compared to him, she was a complete coward. He probably suffered more than she did.

Zhu Juntang searched the area around the building but found nothing.

“What are you looking for, Miss? We can help you find it,” the security guard asked, following behind her.

Zhu Juntang was bewildered and hesitated before asking, “I saw someone jump from the rooftop.”

The security guard was shocked and quickly called other patrolling guards to search for the “corpse.”

After half an hour, the searching guards reported that they hadn’t found anything within a 100-meter radius of the building.

In the end, the search party concluded that they hadn’t found any signs of a body, as if the person had vanished into thin air.

“It’s possible I saw it wrong,” Zhu Juntang said with a smile, “Thank you for your trouble.”

“No problem, Miss. It’s getting late. Please go back to your room and rest.”

Zhu Juntang turned around, wearing her high-heeled shoes with inlaid diamonds, and walked elegantly into the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, the security guard could still be seen maintaining their salute, without any signs of negligence.

“Ghost!”

Zhu Juntang’s elegance suddenly crumbled, and she sat down, her hands turning white as she gripped the sofa tightly. She was certain she had seen that young man jump to his death right in front of her!

Would he smash into pieces? Would he get eaten by cats and dogs? Would he land in a trash can and get buried?

Zhu Juntang thought of many possibilities, changed into her night-run attire, and prepared to search around again, pretending to go for a night run. She really couldn’t accept that someone had jumped to their death right in front of her, without leaving any trace.

Zhu Juntang ran around the building for over an hour, thinking that the security guards had other eyes on her, and eventually gave up.

After causing a commotion for half the night, Zhu Juntang finally got up at noon, feeling lethargic. The events of last night seemed like a dream, but after drinking some water, she confirmed that it wasn’t a dream – she had indeed seen it, and indeed had asked the guards to search for a corpse.

Zhu Juntang still had doubts, holding her telescope to observe the construction site nearby. She hadn’t expected to discover something.

Her telescope was a Leica product, expensive and precise enough to distinguish a person’s face and body features from a few hundred meters away.

Although she trusted her eyes, what she saw conflicted strongly with her common sense and understanding of the world, making Zhu Juntang hesitant and doubtful.

In the end, she decided to send a message to that phone number.

“Hello, I’m Zhu Juntang. We chatted about immortality last night. I’m shocked to see you again today. Let’s meet in private at the Ba Jiu Restaurant on the top floor of the Eight Corners Pavilion. I’ll be waiting for you.”

After sending the message, Zhu Juntang sat by the window, leaning lazily, holding a book by Li Zero, and gazing at the gradually setting sun.
