Chapter 1, Ye Yun
In the vast and boundless universe, a space station named “Black Tower” stood tall.
This was a gathering place for all kinds of scientists; those who could come here must have their own unique expertise in various fields of science and technology.
Today, a merchant named Ye Yun secretly snuck in.
Inside the main control section.
Ye Yun held a small grey-haired creature.
“My friend, I have some treasures here. Would you like to take a look?”
The small grey-haired creature’s name is Star, the protagonist of Star Rail.
Star became interested.
“Treasures? What treasures? Let me see.”
Ye Yun snapped his fingers, and three items wrapped in “bubbles” appeared before Star.
Star found Ye Yun’s finger snap very cool, like magic.
Ye Yun introduced them.
“Let me introduce them. These three items are: a Fate Coin, a Space Ring, and a Constitution Fruit.”
Star examined the three items, curiously poking the bubbles wrapping them.
However, she found she couldn’t touch the items.
Star pointed at the Fate Coin and asked.
“What is this thing? What is its use?”
Ye Yun explained.
“This Fate Coin is easy to use—simply toss it in the air. If it lands heads up, it restores all the user’s injuries, including curses, poison, and other negative statuses. If it lands tails up…well, you’ll get struck by lightning.”
Star’s eyes lit up. Clearly, she wasn’t focused on the possibility of being struck by lightning; she thought it was fun.
“This thing is great! How many credit points?”
Ye Yun wagged his index finger.
“I don’t accept credit points here.”
Star spread her hands.
“I have nothing on me, only the 10,000-odd credit points I earned from working these past two days.”
Ye Yun smiled.
“I accept a different currency you happen to have.”
With that, Ye Yun casually waved his hand, and a set of scales appeared before them.
“You should have some Star Crystals on you, right?”
Star nodded and pulled out several Star Crystals from her bag.
“I just have a few. Do you accept Star Crystals? Aren’t they useless? I only collected a few because they look pretty.”
She was, after all, incredibly poor; these Star Crystals were spoils she obtained after defeating two virtual soldiers and opening a treasure chest.
In the real world of Star Rail, treasure chests are guarded by monsters. Once you approach, these monsters will appear and attack you. Therefore, except for some Pathfinders, no one else cares about treasure chests.
Ye Yun took the Star Crystals from Star—five in total—and placed them on one side of the scales.
The next second, a white light flashed on the other side, and five 100-denomination banknotes suddenly appeared, while the five Star Crystals had vanished.
Ye Yun picked up the five banknotes.
“These are Star Coins. You can exchange Star Crystals for them here. I only accept these. Here’s your 500 Star Coins.”
Star didn’t take them, but pointed at the Fate Coin.
“How many Star Coins for this thing? Is 500 enough?”
Ye Yun said,
“This Fate Coin is only 300. Keep the other 200.”
Then, Ye Yun placed 300 Star Coins onto the bubble containing the Fate Coin.
The 300 Star Coins and the bubble disappeared simultaneously, and the Fate Coin materialized in Ye Yun’s hand.
Ye Yun handed the Fate Coin and the remaining 200 Star Coins to Star.
Star eagerly took the Fate Coin, examined it carefully, and then wanted to test its effect.
Fortunately, Ye Yun stopped her.
“Don’t rush! Use this coin only in an emergency. If you can get heads, it’s like getting an extra life.”
Star thought this made sense and put the Fate Coin in her bag.
Star then looked at the other two items.
Ye Yun introduced them.
“The Space Ring costs 1000 Star Coins. It has a 10 cubic meter extra-dimensional space for storing items, but it cannot store living things.”
“The Constitution Fruit costs 600 Star Coins. Eating it will enhance your physique.”
Star’s eyes lit up; these two items were also great!
She patted her bag, and Star suddenly calmed down.
Ummmm, she had no more Star Crystals.
“Let’s add contact information so I can easily find you to buy things later.”
Ye Yun took out his phone and added Star’s contact information.
Then, the two said goodbye and parted ways.
After Star left, Ye Yun communicated with the system in his mind.
“System, is my newbie task complete?”
[Notification! Congratulations, host, on completing the newbie task: Complete a transaction. Reward obtained: Shop Card x1, High-level Pathfinder-grade Imaginary Energy x1.]
As the system finished speaking, Ye Yun felt a surge of immense power in his body. This power continuously transformed Ye Yun’s body, making him stronger.
After more than ten minutes, the power began to subside. Ye Yun moved his mind, and a dark gold energy ball appeared in his hand.
Good, now he finally had some means of self-preservation.
This Star Rail world had countless strong individuals; ordinary people had no voice.
Like the Interstellar Peace Company—if they wanted to destroy a planet, they could do it directly; no one would say anything bad about the company for the sake of a lower civilization.
After familiarizing himself with the power he had obtained, Ye Yun looked at the other reward.
[Shop Card. After use, a room no larger than 300 square meters can be transformed into a finely decorated shop.]
[Notification! New task issued: Open a shop! Please open a shop. Reward: Special Item Elf series items unlocked, Foreign World Guest invitation x1.]
According to the system, these special items must be unlocked by completing certain tasks. But in Ye Yun’s opinion, the items currently available in the system were already enough to sell; the interface was densely packed, and the number of pages was [infinite].
After reading the new task issued by the system, Ye Yun considered where to open his shop.
After much thought, Ye Yun still felt that the Star Express was the best place.
If he wanted to obtain the most Star Crystals, the Star Express was definitely the place to be.
The Star Express travels through the universe, passing by one planet after another. The nameless passengers on the Star Express would find it very convenient to obtain Star Crystals.
He just happened to have a Shop Card, and he could rent a section of the train to use it.
However, he had to figure out how to get the train crew to rent a carriage to him.
Then, Ye Yun bought a soda, drank it while sitting on a bench, thinking about how to rent a carriage.
On Star’s side.
After separating from Ye Yun, she arrived at the Black Tower office.
As soon as she entered, she saw Black Tower busily debugging the simulated universe.
The simulated universe was jointly created by Black Tower and three other geniuses.
Their goal was to study the secrets of the Star Gods.
Star had tried it once after waking up yesterday. She said it was quite fun and there were rewards to be gained.
Star came here today to help Black Tower test the simulated universe.
“Black Tower, I’m here.”
Black Tower turned around.
“You’re late. You’d better give me a reasonable explanation.”
Star said,
“I was stopped by a salesman on the way and bought some things, which delayed me a bit. Sorry, sorry.”
