Star Rail, My Little Shop on the Train 95
Chapter 95, Xiangling: Stir-fried Slime is Served!
Xiangling returned and, seeing Ye Yun cooking, asked him for a stove to prepare her own dish.
Ye Yun gave Xiangling a pot and showed her how to use this modern stove.
Xiangling was so impressed by how easy the stove was to use that she immediately wanted to buy one. The one in the kitchen was, of course, off-limits; Ye Yun needed it himself.
It wasn’t expensive; he spent 30 Star Coins on a gas stove set from the system shop for Xiangling.
In exchange, Xiangling would be responsible for everyone’s breakfast every day.
That’s right, Ye Yun wanted to sleep in; waking up early to cook was too much of a hassle.
Xiangling readily agreed. Cooking was a piece of cake!
Considering Xiangling’s difficulty commuting between Jueyun Karst and Liyue Harbor, Ye Yun bought her a personal Teleportation Gate.
He also gave Zhong Li a heads-up, asking him to “oversee things” to prevent any trouble.
Zhong Li agreed; this was a good deal for him, too. After all, he’d get to eat Xiangling’s cooking every day.
While Ye Yun’s cooking was delicious, it still couldn’t compare to that of Xiangling, a natural talent and hardworking cook.
Breakfast was quickly prepared.
Ye Yun kept it simple: a large pot of vegetable and lean meat porridge, along with some steamed buns and fried dough sticks.
Xiangling’s dish was more unique; she was trying a new recipe: Stir-fried Slime.
This slime was different from the slime found in Tivat; this one came from another fantasy world where many people ate it.
This slime had no unpleasant odor and had a chewy texture.
However, because it absorbed seasoning very readily, it was a true test of seasoning skills.
Xiangling placed a plate of Stir-fried Slime on the table, her eyes full of anticipation as she looked at everyone.
“Come on! Everyone, try my new dish!”
Having witnessed Xiangling’s slime-based culinary creations, Hutao and Zhong Li were momentarily at a loss.
Hmm… to eat or not to eat? That was the question.
Even though this slime wasn’t from Tivat, and Ye Yun had confirmed it was a culinary ingredient in its origin world, Xing, without hesitation, picked up her chopsticks and took a bite.
Xing picked up a chopstick full and put it in her mouth.
“Slurp~”
As the Stir-fried Slime entered her mouth, Xing’s jaw worked busily, all eyes on her.
Xing swallowed, smiled slightly, and gave a thumbs-up.
“Delicious! You all should try it.”
Upon hearing this, everyone picked up their chopsticks, even Hutao and Zhong Li.
Of all those present, besides Xing, only March 7th hadn’t touched the dish.
March 7th had seen through everything the moment Xing finished and put down her chopsticks.
Having spent so much time together, March 7th could read Xing like a book.
Xing, not going for seconds of a delicious dish? No way!
And that smile on Xing’s face! March 7th had seen that smile before!
That was the same smile Xing used when she tricked March 7th into drinking the coffee made by姬子 (Jizi).
The scheming frog has been patting your belly the whole time!
There’s only one truth! This Stir-fried Slime! It’s! Not! Good!
Sure enough, a few seconds later…
“Ugh~”
“Xiangling! You’ll pay for this! 堂主 (Hall Master), you actually poisoned me!” (Hutao, referring to herself as Hall Master of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor)
“Xiangling, let’s not touch slime again, okay?”
“Hmm, this dish… edible.”
Xiangling was frustrated. She had followed the recipe exactly! What went wrong?
Ye Yun tried some, savoring it carefully before speaking.
“Xiangling, you used too much seasoning. This slime, when sliced, absorbs seasoning very easily. Next time, use less.”
Xiangling realized her mistake.
“I understand. The recipe called for 3 jin (approximately 1.5kg) of slime meat, but I only used half, thinking of it as a test run, while keeping the same amount of seasoning. No wonder.”
Xiangling removed the Stir-fried Slime and disposed of it before remaking the dish.
This time, Xiangling succeeded.
Everyone raved about the improved dish.
The texture was chewy, with a satisfying crunch with each bite, perfect for eating with porridge.
Jing Yuan took a sip of porridge, looked at Ye Yun’s shop, and then remembered that Ye Yun was a shopkeeper.
“Ye Yun, what kind of things do you sell in this shop? May I take a look?”
Ye Yun replied,
“My shop sells goods from countless worlds. As long as you have enough Star Coins, you can buy anything you want.
You can exchange Star Crystal for Star Coins. Currently, in your world, only Star Crystal can be exchanged for Star Coins.”
Jing Yuan caught the words “your world.”
“Oh? Could it be that some of you here are from other worlds?”
At the table, Zhong Li slowly raised his hand, followed by Hutao, Xiangling, Amber, and Eula.
Walther raised his hand halfway then put it down, wondering if he counted as someone from another world.
Jing Yuan looked at Zhong Li, surprised. He hadn’t expected Mr. Zhong Li to be from another world.
No wonder he’d never heard of Zhong Li before. A powerhouse like Zhong Li, so knowledgeable and learned, shouldn’t be unknown.
Zhong Li slowly said,
“We are from Tivat, and we came to this world through Ye Yun’s Teleportation Gate.”
Jing Yuan nodded in understanding.
“Ye Yun, Star Crystal can be exchanged for Star Coins, correct?”
Ye Yun smiled and nodded.
“That’s right, 1 Star Crystal can be exchanged for 100 Star Coins.”
Jing Yuan nodded, deciding to have people collect Star Crystal upon his return.
Xing, March 7th, Hutao, Amber, Eula, Lumine, and Xiangling, hearing Jing Yuan mention Star Crystal, suddenly shuddered and found excuses to leave.
Xing thought, if she didn’t run, she’d be beaten up!
Soon, breakfast ended.
Jing Yuan, accompanied by Walther, Zhong Li, and Ye Yun, went to the tea room to play Go.
The previous night, after returning to his residence, Jing Yuan had already made all the necessary arrangements. A great battle had left him severely injured, requiring rest and recuperation.
Therefore…
Fu Xuan, you’re working hard.
Meanwhile, within the Divine Strategist’s office…
Fu Xuan was overwhelmed. She had started her day at the Divine Strategist’s office with a cheerful mood.
Jing Yuan had entrusted her with all the reconstruction work in Luofu in the past few days.
What was this? He was fostering her abilities! Was this the prelude to making her a general?
However…
After just one hour, she discovered…
Goodness, there was so much to do!
Fu Xuan was overwhelmed by the mountains of paperwork on her desk.
No! No one told me being a general was this tiring!
Fu Xuan didn’t know that being a general wasn’t usually this tiring; one only needed to oversee the big picture.
The problem was, Luofu was in the midst of reconstruction, naturally leading to an overwhelming amount of work.
Therefore, Fu Xuan felt utterly burdened.
Fu Xuan sighed, picked up her pen, and continued to review the official documents.
Meanwhile, Jing Yuan was in Ye Yun’s shop’s reception room, sipping tea and playing Go.
Ye Yun also brought out many pastries. A move in Go, a bite of pastry, a sip of tea—this life was truly wonderful!
Today’s 8000 words are complete. There might be another chapter later, depending on time availability, as I need to cook.
