## Chapter 18: A Little Surprise for Bane
This was one of the dozens of Batcaves scattered across Gotham, each serving as a secret base for the Batman.
The Mad Hatter was sitting listlessly in his cage.
He had been in this oversized, oval, transparent capsule cell for more than 16 hours.
After escaping from Arkham Asylum, he had originally planned to host another oversized tea party to recruit more powerful subordinates and then cause trouble.
But just as he had gathered all his subordinates and the cannon fodder he had mentally controlled with his hats, he was wiped out by the Death Shooter, who had been hired by Chen Tao for a hefty sum. His subordinates were all taken away by police cars, and he was also sent to a luxurious room in the Batcave.
Fortunately, unlike those who were dismembered by bullets that came from somewhere, he, the Mad Hatter, surrendered quickly when facing the police, so he was unscathed.
He was naturally transferred back to Batman. As soon as he arrived at the Batcave, he was beaten up by Robin, who even asked him “What’s your plot?” while hitting him.
It was so unfair! He did have some plans, but he hadn’t had the chance to carry them out before he was caught. How could you beat me up for something I haven’t done?
Bang!
The lights in the hall turned on. The Mad Hatter closed his eyes, and after a while, his eyes gradually adapted to the suddenly bright environment.
With a mechanical sound, the transparent door in front of him opened, and Batman appeared.
“…”
Chen Tao was thinking about how to get the other party to talk.
Of course, he didn’t just have the Death Shooter capture the Mad Hatter for fun. The reason he captured him was that according to the comic book plot, the Mad Hatter currently possessed…
Bang!
Just as Chen Tao was thinking, Robin beside him jumped up and punched the Mad Hatter in the face, then kicked him to the ground and pulled out a crowbar from somewhere, starting to beat him frantically.
!!!
“Talk or not?”
“AAAAAAA!”
“Talk or not, talk or not!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The metal crowbar pounded on the Mad Hatter’s head like a Ansai waist drum, making a muffled, rhythmic sound.
Chen Tao swallowed nervously. Robin was a lunatic too! How did Batman teach his children? This was already a blatant violent tendency!
The sound of the hammering was relentless, even weaving a rhythm with the Mad Hatter’s screams. Reality was not a comic for all ages. Even Robin, when extracting confessions, wasn’t a quiet pretty boy.
“Help! I really have nothing to say!”
The more the Mad Hatter screamed, the more excited Tim seemed to get.
The 15-year-old Robin wielded the crowbar with epileptic movements, a twisted smile on his face, saliva dripping from his mouth:
“You dirty, disgusting, human, scum! I’m going to break every bone in your body, then crush them one by one and use them to flush the toilet!”
But that might clog the toilet. (
What am I thinking?
The Mad Hatter rolled around on the ground in pain, his nose and tears running. He fell at Chen Tao’s feet, grabbing his cloak.
“Stop, please!”
Tim gave his butt a hard blow from behind. Chen Tao saw that part of the crowbar seemed to have… well… due to the force.
The Mad Hatter let out a scream that reached its peak.
Damn it, this crowbar can’t be kept.
“Oh my God! What do you want me to say?” The Mad Hatter was going crazy.
“!”
Chen Tao realized suddenly that he hadn’t asked the other party any questions yet.
Stop it!
The Mad Hatter trembled all over, like a terrified hamster. He wished he could flatten himself and stick to the wall of the oval, oversized, transparent capsule cell behind him.
Chen Tao organized his thoughts.
“Tetch, don’t be afraid. Because being afraid is useless.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Tao wanted to slap himself.
“Robin may look fierce, but he has a kind heart.”
Tim slammed the crowbar on the ground, making a clang. The Mad Hatter was scared and covered his head, collapsing on the ground.
“…”
Chen Tao gave up on comforting him.
He got straight to the point:
“You captured Bane’s subordinate, the Bird, who was used to monitor you. You put a tracker on it. You have Bane’s location, Tetch.”
“You originally gathered enough people, sent invitations to many people, just intending to play another one of your twisted Alice in Wonderland games, and then find someone with fighting ability, give them Bane’s address, and then use them to test who Bane really is.”
Chen Tao recited the comic book plot, carefully observing the other party’s facial expressions.
To be honest, he wasn’t sure what stage Tetch had reached, nor was he sure if he had already got Bane’s location. But the Mad Hatter’s current reaction could be considered a confession without asking.
Got it. He does know Bane’s whereabouts.
“Tetch, my patience is limited.”
Robin raised the crowbar again.
45 minutes later.
“Gordon, you have to move faster. It’s best to…”
“…Of course you should use heavy firepower! Just hold him off first, evacuate the residents, and then you should use artillery fire… the National Guard should not be lacking…”
“That’s right… force Bane to confront you directly, be careful of his assault… if he attacks the officers…”
Beep!
Chen Tao hung up the phone.
When he found himself blocked by tanks, the expression on Bane’s cold face would be quite interesting.
“May God have mercy on you, as you have mercy on others. From dust you came, and to dust you shall return… May your soul rest in peace, extinguish your hardship…”
The Deathstroke’s funeral was short. Chen Tao and Robin stood at the edge of the cemetery with black umbrellas, watching the priests and Alfred together dig a large pit big enough to hold the coffin.
In the original history, Deathstroke took over the role of Batman after Bane broke his spine, and successfully defeated Bane. But as time went on, he gradually fell into villainy and was eventually defeated by the returned Batman.
But now, this possible future had completely disappeared as the mound of earth grew higher and higher.
It’s actually down to the butterfly effect caused by the time traveler. The time traveler, obviously, wouldn’t be like the real Batman, who would tirelessly catch criminals day and night. This gave Deathstroke a chance. He, with great enthusiasm, inherited the “Ignore Batman’s orders” fine tradition of the Bat Family, and privately wore Batman’s uniform—
And then he was blocked by Bane. The next day, his headless body was sent back to Wayne Manor. This future big villain who spanned the entire “Batman: Knightfall” arc, before he even developed, was killed just four hours after Chen Tao’s time travel.
Chen Tao didn’t feel particularly sorry for him. Deathstroke had been brainwashed for a long time by the cult “Holy Duma Cult” and his mind had already gone a bit crazy, otherwise he wouldn’t have fallen into villainy so quickly. Tim was quite sad, though. He had a good personal relationship with Jean Paul.
He laid flowers at Paul’s grave and then said, “Bruce, there’s something I need to tell you.”
