## Chapter 47: Broken Promise

“I mean, Joker kidnapped Mayor Caro after all. He’s a mayor, even though his power isn’t that great and he’s full of power lust, but he’s still the mayor of all Gotham.”

“Wouldn’t Joker…?”

Chen Tao interrupted him: “How can the bait be problematic before the fish is hooked?”

Although this is true, if it were the real Batman, he would have immediately gone to save the mayor. Because if he broke his promise, Joker might not hurt Caro, but he might also hurt him.

The outcome of this matter would be an unknown result, it could develop in a good direction, but it could also develop in a bad direction – therefore!

The real Batman wouldn’t gamble with someone else’s life on his own understanding of Joker.

But Chen Tao was different.

The time traveler chose to go all-in.

Anyway, if he lost the bet, it wasn’t his life that was on the line.

He wouldn’t be like a lost dog, coming and going at Joker’s beck and call, then beating up other Arkham inmates, tiring himself out until he was rolling his eyes.

The group of crazies that Bane released from Arkham definitely needed to be dealt with, they had to be dealt with, but it definitely wasn’t in this way. He’d use these mercenaries then, otherwise what was he spending money for?

Deal with Bane with a tired posture? He wasn’t stupid.

He planned to use Bane’s own plan to disgust him.

“Did you deliver the stuff to Joker?”

Tim nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

The amusement park in the suburbs.

Various kinds of strange and oddly shaped Joker gang members were listlessly sitting in various bumper cars or Ferris wheels.

These bumper cars were modified artillery vehicles, real killing weapons, and the speed of the Ferris wheel was accelerated, if Batman dared to go up, he’d be shaken until his brains were mixed up –

But none of that mattered.

Joker told them Batman would come, and the other side had already broken their promise for two hours.

“Impossible, I notified Penguin so obviously… Batman would never do such a thing!”

Joker was a little crazy: “This isn’t Batman!”

Scarecrow’s voice sounded from the side:

“Maybe Penguin didn’t notify Bat…”

“Impossible!”

Joker said: “I saw him send the message with my own eyes.”

He paced back and forth anxiously, even the smile on his face was diminished.

He rushed forward and grabbed Mayor Caro by the collar: “Hey, aren’t you some kind of alien robot or puppet?”

“No, no, I’m just an ordinary person, a real human! Please let me go!” The mayor cried, he wasn’t tied up with a single rope, but he still dared not escape.

The reason he cried was not because of Joker’s intimidation, but because there were four spring-loaded landmines under the seat he was sitting on, and his neck was also fitted with a dual-mode remote control and timer bomb, the whole person was a human bomb.

Touché? He dared not move.

“Maybe Batman is busy.” Scarecrow said: “Waiting for so long has almost made me lose my patience, why can’t we go and do something else, something that can truly bring fear to this city and control this city, instead of staying in this boring amusement park?”

He saw that Joker was completely ignoring him, still muttering crazily beside him, and couldn’t help but feel angry:

“Why couldn’t Batman—”

“I know Batman! Batman farts, and I know what kind of bat poop he’s going to shit!”

Joker said, he looked very normal, full of rational deduction and logical thinking, like a pale detective.

Scarecrow thought Joker was getting sicker.

But at this moment, a drone crashed into Joker’s carefully laid trap.

Scarecrow saw Joker yelling and chasing after it, happy like a child about to be given candy.

A tape recorder was hanging under the Batman drone.

Joker couldn’t wait to take the tape recorder and press the play button.

“This is Batman.”

Joker immediately showed a look of excitement that you’re finally here, but his face turned into fury the next second.

Because he heard Batman say:

“Joker, you’re not the biggest threat right now, stop sending me messages through Penguin, I’m afraid Bane will misunderstand that I don’t value him enough.”

“The police, the National Guard, or whatever else will be here to handle the mess you’ve made. Stop bothering me.”

“Oh.” Scarecrow said.

Then the next second he met Joker’s red eyes.

Bane arrived at Blackgate Penitentiary Island at night.

Most of his men were landing, he gathered those who were scattered around Gotham City, those strong men who came from Santa Prisca.

He led the whole team to swim into Blackgate Penitentiary from the water… through the sewage pipes.

Usually, the railing structure of the sewage pipes would be electrified, but after it took two punches from Bane, that was no longer a problem.

Bane and his men knew every inch of Blackgate Penitentiary. Obviously, this was part of the whole plan and had been planned for a long time.

Before Bane completely entered Blackgate Penitentiary, there had already been a large-scale prison break in the prison, so when Bane arrived… the revelry was at its peak.

After Bane continued to twist the necks of hundreds of people, no one dared to challenge his authority anymore.

Beep beep beep…

Bane answered his phone.

A somewhat helpless voice came from the other side: “I feel like I’m that silly kid in elementary school who’s stuck between two incompatible classmates, helping one pass a message one moment and helping the other the next.”

He said: “I have a file on who Joker is, I guarantee you, this file must have come from Batman.”

He said: “I don’t know why Batman would give this file to you, but I think he must believe you can use it.”

“Send it over.”

Bane replied flatly, then hung up the phone and said, “Bring the warden and his henchmen… I want to completely integrate the military force of this prison.”

“Allow me to introduce you, Mr. Bruce Wayne, Lincoln March, Chief Operating Officer of March Venture Capital—”

“The current Gotham mayoral candidate. Yes, I know, besides March Venture Capital—the Lesley Tompkins Eastside clinic branch is funded by you, right?”

Chen Tao was talking about the information he saw before the banquet, but he suddenly felt his head buzzing.

He recognized who the other party was!

Lincoln March – wasn’t this guy a subordinate of the Court of Owls?

Chen Tao looked at the other party, this talon of the Court of Owls showed a polite smile: “Regarding investment, I’m really interested, I also want to be part of it, Bruce, can we discuss the details?”

Chen Tao stared at him.

“Mr. Bruce?”

“Of course.” Chen Tao answered him: “What do you have in mind?”
