Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds: Duellists Beyond the Light 29
Chapter 29: Obsession
“BOOM————————————————”
The explosion, a sound that drove countless people to despair, echoed through the entire underground dueling arena. Atlantis, the mysterious and magnificent underwater city, gradually collapsed, turning into a dissipating bubble.
Almost no one expected Danker Jin to fall in the first round, and even more shockingly, his opponent was a newcomer participating in the underground duels for the first time.
The intense impact sent Danker Jin reeling backward. More than the damage from the holographic projection, he found the opponent’s almost humiliating acrobatics even more unbearable.
Magic-attacking warrior…
Dark noble…
Marshmallow…
These outdated cards had formed such a seemingly ridiculous yet sickening combo!
Especially that three-star trash card, which had continuously weakened its own LP (Life Points) through direct attacks?!
Danker Jin’s eyes blazed with anger. At the same time, he felt the duel had been strangely conducted. The kid’s cards were weak, his deck was disorganized, yet he was able to beat him from beginning to end!
“Tsk… What a joke? I actually lost to this deck?!”
Danker Jin widened his eyes. He wanted to see his opponent’s face, to confirm who this guy was, but an empty aluminum can flew from somewhere, hitting him hard in the face, followed by a chorus of curses and jeers.
“Get lost, Danker! What kind of garbage duel was that?!”
“So pathetic! Can’t even beat a pile of random cards?!”
“He must have taken a bribe! Damn it! All the money I bet is down the drain thanks to you!”
“Heehee, what a pathetic loss~”
“Thank goodness I didn’t bet on this, or I’d be left with nothing!”
Amidst the torrent of insults, the strong and sturdy Danker Jin, who looked like a sailor, fled in a panic. He hadn’t expected to lose this duel, and now he was at a loss for words.
The next match was about to begin, and the angry underground duelists were still denouncing Danker Jin, suspecting a rigged match.
But You Qing and Di Kede had already arrived at the betting area and were using pre-prepared backpacks to collect their winnings.
The two smiled in tacit understanding. Across the table, the somewhat balding fat man replaced his toothpick with a new one, eyeing You Qing with extra attention.
After the two left the underground venue, the fat man pulled out a phone from under the table and chuckled, “Heh heh… Hello? Let’s change the plan. We’re going to make a killing on this one~”
Late at night.
Di Kede drove You Qing back to District F17.
They rolled down the car windows, enjoying the refreshing night breeze. Di Kede, having just made a huge profit, was beaming.
“It went so smoothly~ Most people think Danker Jin was throwing the match~” Di Kede laughed. “With this, we can make a few more bucks later~”
“Yeah.” You Qing gazed at the distant night sky, also smiling. He had already begun to think about building a new deck.
“The next match is the day after tomorrow. You can use tomorrow to buy some cards in District X to strengthen your deck,” Di Kede lit a cigarette and put it in his mouth, “At this rate, if you win two or three more matches, you’ll have enough money for a D-Wheel.”
“After that, you can decide whether you want to challenge Jack or participate in the high-speed dueling tournament.”
“Anyway, with a D-Wheel, you can decide what to do.”
Jack?
You Qing didn’t have any particular feelings about that guy.
What he was thinking about now was winning the high-speed tournament first and getting a chance to enter Neo Domino City.
As a time traveler, he was currently very lost. He didn’t know if he would ever have a chance to go back, nor did he know what his next goal was. But no matter what happened next, leaving Satellite was the most necessary step. This place was too barbaric and chaotic; nobody wanted to stay here.
Pulling the car up to the factory gate, Di Kede tossed several large bundles of cash from his backpack. You Qing skillfully caught them and tucked them into his somewhat worn brown coat.
Although he now had a “fortune,” You Qing couldn’t spend it carelessly. Dueling cards were incredibly expensive. He had to hone his “weapons” for survival first, before considering improving his living conditions.
The car engine sputtered to a stop, and the two walked towards the factory building.
In a daze, looking at the slightly hazy, yellowish moon in the night sky, You Qing felt like he had returned to many years ago.
Back then, when he received his first month’s salary at the auto repair shop, he had walked the streets like this, too, a plastic bag of money in one hand and his coat tightly clutching the other.
Only then, the person walking beside him wasn’t Di Kede, but Chen Hao…
Thinking of his best friend still lying in bed, You Qing’s heart suddenly jolted.
His initial bewilderment was replaced by a powerful impulse.
Yes…
Chen Hao was still in that world…
He had clearly promised to greet him with a trophy on the day he left the hospital, but…
You Qing couldn’t imagine Chen Hao’s reaction to all of this. The joy and satisfaction he had felt earlier vanished immediately. He unconsciously clenched his fists, and a thought formed in his mind.
He had to go back!
He absolutely had to go back!
He had to fulfill the vow he had made since childhood, to engrave his and Chen Hao’s names on the champion’s trophy together!
You Qing’s gaze hardened.
In his memory, the legendary god—the Red Dragon—who ran throughout the storyline of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, had the power to control time and space. The protagonist, Yusei Fudo, had successfully time-traveled under its influence, returning to Neo Domino City in the Yugi Muto era!
If he could get the Red Dragon’s help, or become a Signer, then traveling back to his original world shouldn’t be impossible!!
You Qing was still pondering when they reached the factory gate. Di Kede thought he was thinking about his deck, so he didn’t disturb him.
Only when Rari’s nervous and excited shout rang out did You Qing snap back to reality and enter the factory with Di Kede.
“So fast?!” Rari was incredibly excited, “How did it go?! You must have won!”
Hirata Jun, Daigo, and Ryohei by the assembly line also stared, clearly surprised by the smooth outcome.
Di Kede smiled triumphantly, carrying a burlap sack-like backpack in one hand and throwing several bundles of cash towards his companions with the other: “We won!! You Qing took down Danker Jin in a flash!”
“You won’t believe it~”
“When Danker Jin lost the duel, the scene was hilarious!!”
Seeing months’ worth of wages flying towards them, their eyes gleamed.
The group quickly stopped their work and caught the large bundles of cash.
But at that moment, a strange “sizzling” sound rang out. Countless pieces of garbage once again clogged the conveyor belt, followed by a flood of waste products pouring down like a colorful waterfall onto the floor…
